Graves of Caroline, James Wilfred (Edward's first wife and son) and Edward's second wife Sarah McClain.
Edward married Sarah McClain after Caroline died. James Wilfred Smith was Edward and Caroline's son. Sadly, Edward was killed by lightening on Thomas' place in 1879 leaving James without parents. James went to live with his grandparents, Thomas and Mary, for about a year after Edward's death. Thomas is listed in the census at that time as being paralyzed. One wonders if perhaps Thomas was not injured by the lightening strike that killed Edward. Soon after, Thomas would die. James was then raised by his Uncle Theodore. Sadly, James, described as a very promising youth, died at 19 years of age.
